Beyond dakshina

Personal dakshina is an offering from the yajman to the purohit. It is not the same as the professional arrangements a ceremony requires.

A managed booking covers:

1. Daily remuneration for each ritvik, agreed in advance
2. Lodging for outstation ritviks near the venue
3. Seva & satkar fees for the attending team
4. Vastra — dhoti, angavastram and uttariya
5. Satvik bhojan vyavastha with no onion or garlic
6. Ritual coordination by a dedicated manager

Confusion between dakshina and these arrangements is the single most common source of awkwardness at large ceremonies.
